M-71 unleashes a double single of hard hitting breakbeat, inspired by textures of the 90’s soundscapes and the rave, as the first release on Outer Village Audio.
Just One Kiss brings forth straight-to-the-case textbook breakbeat for the dancefloor. With a minimalist approach of carefully selected sounds, yet retaining a classic feel, M-71 takes the listener in with a haunting reese bass carried by a riffy down-pitched vocal sample on top. This drags the listener straight into a drop of breaks intertwined in breaks, as a classic jungle tune would do it best.
Just One Kiss seems as a spectre of a dancefloor hit lost in time. It reminisces about the roots as well as bringing something modern and fresh.
Take Me On The Floor combines textures from dreamy soundscapes of the late 90’s intelligent pad and melodic universe with gnarly basslines and elements from the rave. With almost ethereal-sounding and repetitive mallets, Take Me On The Floor takes off on a melancholic note leading into a drop of over-the-top distorted 808’s and to the core call-and-responding, kicks and snares, carrying the tune onwards with hints of unorthodox grooves. As with the flipside, Take Me On the Floor is suited for the dancefloor, but here the longing — or nostalgia — for a lost time is much more prominent and direct.
